Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with Nansemond Indian Nation. You do not need to be a tribal member to be active in our community. Here are some ideas:

This year Nansemond Indian Nation was fortunate to partner with two new sponsors for our 30th Annual Nansemond Indian Pow Wow.

Pender & Coward Attorneys and Counsellors at Law are among the oldest law firms in southeastern Virginia, dating back to 1889 when W.D. Pender first established his legal practice in Norfolk. Since then, the firm has grown to include more than 30 talented attorneys who represent clients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and Coastal North Carolina from offices in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk.

Pender & Coward’s Restore the Shore 2016 unleashing the power of over 50 volunteers to clean up a battered shoreline and replant native plants so the shoreline will thrive again.

We were interested in partnering with Pender & Coward due to their deep roots in our community working with non-profit organizations, giving time, serving on boards and providing needed assistance to vital organizations. Pender & Coward’s sponsorship enabled us to provide our pow wow attendees with a commemorative bag highlighting the historical importance of this year. We thank them for their support!

Mike Duman Auto Superstore is located at 2300 Godwin Boulevard, Suffolk, VA 23434 just down the road from Mattanock Town. In addition to being our neighbor, Mike Duman is a member of Suffolk City Council as the representative for the Chuckatuck Borough. Mike Duman’s sponsorship enabled us to feature two junior head dancers this year in recognition of the role of our youth in a vibrant Nansemond Indian future. We thank Mike and the staff at Mike Duman Auto Superstore for their support!
